There were many moments in the movie that were just terrific. Sandra Bullock didn't please me that much for years. But she was on fire in this movie. I really liked her character and how she played it. I could also mention others, John malkovich for example. He was really good acting too (except this one time when his wife got killed and he was just like "well, too bad and fyi it was your fault").
There were moments, characters that didn't fit and were just plain stupid. Characters that you know from the beginning they're walking in on screen, are only there to push the plot or make fucked up decisions.
Paint the windows of your SUV black and drive to the local market with nothing more than your gps and parking sensors? Nice.
Not only arriving there with little to no damage to the car (over the entire parking lot), but also like 10 feet away from the entrance? Great times to be alive.
Also the fact that this big supernatural thing (whatever it is, you never get to know) mows down everything and everyone even through cameras, shaking cars and houses, but can't open doors or windows. All you have to do is cover your eyes and you're safe. It seems a little far-fetched to be honest. What i least liked about that is the fact that at no time, at really no time at all does one learn anything about the processes that take place. Zero.
Something so powerful is kept from killing every person immediately because it can't take your hand from your eyes, or come through your front door? Doors have slits, not every roof is sealed...I mean, really?
On the other hand, i liked the idea of not everyone is affected in the same way. Whether you call them crazy because they were crazy before, or they went crazy because of staring into it (from the standpoint of a normal observer), is left aside.
I didn't like the ending that much, because...well, they're fucked anyway, it's just a matter of time before something or someone walks in and shit's hitting the fan.
But it was a happy end in some way, specially for the children so... It's acceptable i guess.
In fact, I liked many parts of the movie, but at the same time i'm bothered that it could have been so much more.
