the admittedly emotionally raw and compelling last 25 minutes or so of this film couldn't save the 70 odd bland ones that came before it. yes, that revelation did a lot to redeem a frankly unlikeable and remarkably unfunny comedienne protagonist - but it all felt a little too late. most of the movie was just kinda boring and staid. we watch a struggling comedienne sporting black skinny jeans and a punky leather jacket make predictable, acidic, misandrist jokes and tired period bits and surprise, surprise she "doesn't date; she fucks" until hunky saviour common walks into her life to show her... read more
