Review of Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)

Overall Rating
somehow i enjoy the film for being rated r. it's not the movie's fault if it struggles at the bo. because it's a little movie where it has a little story, and i consider it a one-shot story in terms of comic analogy that has been adapted in a movie. if i compare this film to capt. marvel last year i would choose this a million times over than, the boring carol denver film. even it has a hidden agenda i think it's fun and entertaining to watch. the movie should also be called a harley quinn's little story with birds of prey so that, more audience would care and have an interest in seeing the movie because this film is 100% harley quinn's story with extras being the bop. this film would not be made if it were not for margot robbie she pulled her muscle to make it happen and i appreciate her more for doing a movie where she introduces this second rate dc characters in the silver screen. but in reality, it's a streaming service film in terms of quality. and i hope that the next film would level up its game, i precisely pointing this to gotham city sirens if wb decides to make it. i have some problems or nitpicks in the movie. huntress not wearing her mask in the first place. we got to see this by the end of the film. it would be more cool to see her having a mask in her face in the entire movie. (it's just the same case as scarlet in the mcu not looking like her character in the source material). the location where they choose to set the fight between bop and the thugs of black mask in the carnival. i prefer another location because the props it's just too convenient for the protagonists. and it seems to me that they chose that location to make the bop look cool in the camera doing this action stuff. it feels like these thugs are not threatening at all and how easy bop take them out. the car chase scene at the end was boring in my case. another nitpick is ewan mcgregor not wearing the mask when he deals with the dirty business we only got to see him wearing that until the climax. i know that these actors are paid because of their faces but this is a comic book movie and these actors should at least be wearing their costumes most of the time in a comic book film. the last one is that black mask has only two suits that really represent him as the mob boss character we are familiar with the comics this being the attire he wears in the climax and another attire is when he's dealing business to this asian guy in his club. by the way, why is bm doing dirty business in his club? he's a mob boss and his such a formal character and they just ruined most of his character traits in this film. i enjoy ewan overacting performance but i hate their take on bm being flamboyant and gay same as victor zsasz. i wished that we got to see bm having a mask in wearing these formal cool-looking suits. like the stapled one's all black and white formal suits. this is the first reason why i love his character in the comics. and also what a waste of bm as a character. it would be more cool to see him in the future dceu projects. i was okay with the death of zsasz but not bm. i liked how canary is a strong female character in the movie like in the comics. they also nailed her appearance, another character looks they nailed is montoya wearing the classic blue and white upper attire. even victor zsasz's look of his scars was also on point. the film also continues the dark grim aesthetic of other dceu movies before aquaman bright and cheery look.
