jackie chan has the time of his life in this good-natured slapstick film that combines the humor of a screwball comedy with the action elements of many 80s classics. this has the kind of wacky action that chan does better than anyone and good performances by chan, maggie chung, teddy robin, anthony chan, philip chan, sylvia chang, nina li chi and more. it is less polished than chan's later hollywood films but that i will take fun and a legitimate sense of humor over higher production values any day of the week. read more

tsui hark turns in another visually pleasing, but distractingly unfocused romp. felt like i was watching a john landis/ivan reitman type situational comedy about kramer & mickey, as they spent most of the running time on "lol this jackie ain't that other jackie" misunderstandings. i don't necessarily mind those, but it never tries to engage you beyond that so once the final act kicked in it had me snoozin'. read more
