5/10 for the english dub which is full of not just cheesy lines, but also cringe-worthy attempts at comedy (i had to fast forward through the part where the chinese lead misunderstands the japanese wife's lines as broken english. not a fan of the homophobic scene either.) the fights were good, though i would have expected more of a japanese vs chinese styles, not the ninja using kung fu. the storyline made no effort whatsoever, and it wasn't even batshit insane for entertainment. also, the dub is ok, except for the japanese wife who would be a perfect fit in a worst dubbing all-stars cast. thankfully, she doesn't speak much, but when she does, it's unbelievably awful. i probably would have enjoyed this more in the original version and/or before i watched so many other, better movies in the genre. as it is, it's just underwhelming. gets an extra half star for the opening sequence which seemed very promising, and its very, very 80s song.
