thin characters and weirdly pg a lot of the time. there's a fun showoff with sho kosugi at the end, and rutger hauer chops off one guy's hand as he's holding a gun, and the hand pulls the trigger as it hits the ground. so that was kinda ludicrous and not pg, but otherwise it was never more than just watchable. read more

watching this now, i remember seeing 3/4ths of it on ppv when i was younger. it was kind of surreal, because i was recalling my memory of seeing it while i was also noticing the similarities to the zatoichi films, which inspired this movie. it was like... reliving two separate sets of memories at once. wild. blind fury is exactly the kind of movie that i love. it's not a great movie, but it hits all the right notes that it needs to. it's not a movie i would change a thing about (except maybe more blood, but that's not really necessary- i'd add more blood to literally every movie.) it's a read more
