even though i don't consider this his best work, a pretty good lau kar-leung movie is still packed with moments of sheer genius. that whole outhouse sequence for one. not exactly baby's first kung fu movie as i imagine it being pretty disorienting if you don't know who's who, but it does a pretty good job explaining things along the way if you're a patient viewer. i will say i found the finale, while obviously well done, a little formal for my tastes. read

Part of my 2022 Martial Arts Mondays It's been a long while since I've had this fun watching a Martial Arts movie. Legendary Weapons of China has possibly the most intricate weapon fighting and choreography I have ever seen, and it's a treat to be able to see this in HD. The story is a little "off" in the beginning, but as soon as things get going, the cheeky humor comes out, and the story becomes a bit clearer.
