In multiple interviews in the lead-up to this movie releasing, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson claimed repeatedly that it had taken fifteen years to bring the character to the screen. You'd think, if he were THAT dedicated, he'd have at least worn a wig to mimic the character's iconic look. But, then, this isn't REALLY a Black Adam movie at all. Black Adam is a superhero film with a weak story, an annoying kid, and an underwhelming villain. However, the second half of the film is at least worth the price of admission. The action scenes and special effects are impressive and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson delivers a strong performance as the titular character. One issue I had with the film is the fact that, after being in a tomb for 5000 years, Black Adam speaks English with an American accent. I'll need more time to think but I enjoyed it. Edit: Critics overhated on it. This is a fun, enjoyable time with some good action and some great performances. For what it's worth, it's another Aquaman (simple if not weak script and story but good action/visuals) but I like how it expanded on the Shazam mythology (even if it was kind of an exposition dump). Dr Fate was super cool and I thought he was the best part of the movie. I even enjoyed most of the Justice Society stuff. Outside of that, and some fun action parts, this was just not very good at all. read more

Mid Adam. I dont even want to hate DCEU, in fact I want it to flourish like the MCU, but mid like this just further drags this franchise down.
