I had a lot of fun with 2017's "Murder On The Orient Express"; a story I was already familiar with due to both the book itself and the 1974 film which my parents kept on a VHS tape in our home, and we would occasionally watch together as a family. Kenneth Branagh returns both as director and main character, Hercules Poirot, for the sequel, "Death On The Nile".
Is it as good? Not quite. It's a bit too long (Do we really need the origin story for Poirot's moustache?) and some of the reveals don't land as well as they should, but Branagh at least makes the endeavour suitably cinematic, and I can't fault any of the actors, who do a perfect serviceable job.
And, there lies the problem. It's serviceable. If you're after a beautiful looking way to waste two a bit hours, "Death On The Nile" is probably just what you're looking for.
"Pain and loss; they define us as much as happiness or love. Whether it's a world or a relationship, everything has its time and everything ends." - Sarah Jane Smith, Doctor Who
