this is the best roger corman film i have seen, which granted isn't a terribly high bar to clear. it is efficient at creating the creepy house, ancient curse vibe without getting too silly. the third act with the dream sequence gets a little off the rails, but overall it works well. there is one thing that was really holding this back, mark damon's performance. he is really pretty bad in this and i am shocked he won the golden globe for most promising newcomer (granted there were 3 winners, but he still won over robert vaughn in the magnificent seven). he would go on to be a successful read more
