to be fair, nick hornsby only had more or less a granta article to work with in regards to an education, so he was left to add and flesh characters while dodging the original pieces inexplicable anti-semitism. and even then, the piece, as well as the plot of this movie, is “schoolgirl rebels against strict parents and education and learns to be posh by a conman.” but, for some reason, the feel of an education is mostly romcom-like, and if theres anything a conman story needs, its not a romcom treatment. there are romcom-style montages and a score that feels like it shouldve been for a... read
