it is raw emotion and the horrors of war. there is no sugar coating on this as it portrays the brutality and destruction war creates. it is intense and hard to watch, but is powerful and moving. read more

can't lie i was pretty sleepy whilst watching this film. thus wasn't able to fully comprehend what was happening. but i think this is what this movie is about: living scene to scene, along things happening around the main character. this film is definitely not for everybody, i guess i won't be revisiting it for a long while. it's an immersive experience nonetheless read more

birth year challenge #22 criterion challenge 2021 made in the soviet union scavenger hunt 70 january 2021 watch a russian or soviet film. watched on criterion collection blu-ray. what an uncompromising and brutal war film. some of the best use of close-ups since the passion of joan of arc and the good, the bad and the ugly. cinematography was excellent throughout, at times beautiful, and also at times, brutal. this is not a film i'd want to rewatch again for a while, but it's still a fantastic film. i'd say it's the third best of the 1985 behind ran and back to the future.... read more

Es una pesadilla horrible. Claramente se trata de propaganda de la URSS, pero eso no quita que sea un peliculón. No la disfrutas para nada, pero esta tan bien hecha que parece que estés alli, con ellos. Al lado del niño inocente que no sabia donde se metia. world tour #9 - ussr absolutely terrifying. fantastic in its own horrific way, beautifully crafted and at the same time one of the ugliest movies i've ever seen. watching it now, when war is spreading like a wildfire is truly a otherwordly experience, it seems like a nightmare turning into real life. i give this a rating of 10/10 (5 stars). read more

one of the most impressive films i've seen in my entire life. a film clearly divided into two parts in which the loss of innocence of its main character, florian, is reflected on the first part, that is clearly influenced by the tarkovsky's cinematography. and then a sencond half where the director abandons the symbolist tone of the first part to delve into the harshness of pain. i would highlight the close-ups of the characters, the double focus blending tecniche , and the pov sequences. however, it also has its small flaws but it is nonetheless a masterpiece. read more

Wow this was certainly an interesting movie. Watching this as part of IMDB's Top 250 and it would have to be one of the most realistic I have seen, probably as much as the first half hour of "Saving Private Ryan". After finding a rifle a boy enlists in the Resistance Movement and soon experiences the horrors of war. The movie is quite long but it was enjoyable in a historical kind of way and I think that this was pretty much how it was at that time. Highly recommended read more

Miserable and necessary. Dreadful and beautiful in equal measures, Come and See acts as THE anti-war film. The loss of innocence to war is awful and unforgivable and you want to stop watching the entire time. But unlike most war films that romanticize the violence and the war in general, Come and See is showing lived experiences and the scars that never heal from those experiences, on people and the world. This may be the most aptly named movie of all time as it is an invitation to come and see the absolute horrible reality that is war. A must watch for all that remains poignant today. read more

The most horrifying, terrifying, disturbing anti-war film I've seen that delves deep into the character of Flyora's psyche perfectly disturbing and shows how much war can change a person. The more I think about the film, the more I love it. Even the technical aspects of this were great. All the small details like shooting in natural light and the audio quality dropping after a bomb scene, which makes up a whole. Something I wish modern films would do more often.
