i think i put this off for so long because i don't like racing and the trailers didnt speak to me. but after seeing it, im glad i did. bale, damon, and mangold did a phenomenal job. the editing was fantastic and the third act was thrilling while it easily could have been mundane. read more

it is just good old-fashioned hollywood movie magic. two big stars in a simple underdog story. it doles out thrilling and emotional moments at a perfect pace. it is a tried and true formula, but when it is executed well, as it is here, there are few things more enjoyable. read more

after watching this i'd say i might've been a bit more satisfied with a christian bale oscar nomination (not a win) but alls good. on the other hand though, the editing of the movie was insane and it had some very beautiful shots. the racing scenes honestly blew my mind, especially at the le mans '66 itself...wow! read more

My quick rating - 7;8/10. Not knowing the story behind this little rivalry; at least I don't have that comparison of real life vs movie nagging at me. So; for the movie itself. I thought this was a very well made film; top to bottom. The acting is flawlessly done to apture what would seem to be tension that must've been going on when it is the little guys being stepped on by the corporate monsters. In this case Ford; and I am sure if the battle was such as this movie describes; the way Ford treated Shelby was identical. As I am not much into car racing I had not heard of the two lead characters Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) and Ken Miles (Christian Bale). The to lead actors did a fantastic job with their roles and the movie directed by James Mangold is very well done. The car race scenes are among the best I have seen on screen and it was just an enjoyable good quality movie all round. read more

It was pretty much exactly what I was expecting, top notch acting and a well-made sports film. It's not something I would rewatch because car racing bores me, but an outsider like me can tell they did the subject justice. I love a good "based on a true story" film (my favorite part's the epilogue where we get to see the real people!) because I feel like I learn something new, even if it's the Hollywood version.
