2-minute review: a farmer finds a skull while plowing his field and it looks neither fully human nor fully animal. this is 1600s england so he of course runs to the local minister because clearly satan is afoot. er, a skull. the first half of the film then seems to be inspired by the crucible meets the exorcist, a sort of portrayal of the heavy influence of christianity and the potential oppression that brings when leaders fear evil needs to be rooted out. but then, inexplicably, people start losing their minds and evil really does need to be rooted out! the latter half of the film plays like... read more
