There is so much wrong with this film it is hard to even keep it all straight, so I'll just make a list to begin:

The Cursing - cursing would have been quite unusual and out of place among the boys of 1916. It was even unusual in the Second World War, but far more so in the First.

The Cigarettes - the First World War introduced many young men to smoking, but it was far less prevalent than in the Second, and more often men smoked pipes than cigarettes.
