don siegel's films seem to have an interesting subtext that makes the films much more interesting than they would seem on paper. on paper, this film is a traditional and ordinary heist film, as we follow the perpetrators of a bank robbery on their attempts to get away. yet, the ideas that siegel is playing with when it comes to aging and the relative values of intelligence and physicality take this film into some very interesting places. of course, the natural comparison here is to the dirty harry series and i think that it is a fruitful comparison, as well. both have the same director, have... read more
