boy was i looking forward to watching this film. i bought the series a while ago (when it was first released by shout! factory) and i've been dying to see it ever since. i mean, a slasher flick filled with gore, tits and hopefully some bush. well i just finished the first one and let me just say it sucked. the only thing it delivered on was the tits which were a plenty. otherwise the gore was pretty weak (i've seen worse) and there was not a bush in sight (except for the ones by the pool). the driller killer here is just a guy but he's apparently a magician. he can lock up an entire school in... read

film #7 of hooptober part v: a new beginning slumber party massacre is an interesting thought experiment brought to life: what would a horror comedy be like if it were filmed in a dead serious manner? that's exactly what happened with amy holden jones' movie of an escaped maniac slashing his way through a high school slumber party. rita mae brown's screenplay was done as a parody of the slasher genre, but producers decided it would work better as a serious attempt at a slasher film. they weren't correct, although that's not to say that this is a waste of time by any measure. the humor of read

i can't believe how streamlined this is! i mean sure it's short, but it's also 34 years old. hollywood, please don't ever remake this because it is perfect. filled to the brim with quirky character interactions, sweet tunes, and a killer who's not concerned about his identity at all. like the movie equivalent of a grilled cheese sandwich, but the best one you've ever had with 2 extra thick slices of cheddar on white toast bread. so bad for you, but so so good. read
