entertaining spy action thriller. the cia lead is not too convincing, but the macgyver-like tactics that jolie uses to get herself out of binds were fun to watch. terrible ending though. read more

film #1 in operation: rewatch my blu-rays i havent seen in a long time angelina joliet is a lot of fun in salt, even if the story is pretty much a nonsensical disaster. kurt wimmer's script is a constant escalation of increasingly unlikely situations, not the least bizarre includes jilie passing through secret service security in an unconvincing mask as a male russian military officer. there is a sublimely silly moment not long after where joliet fights her way through countless armed guards while nuclear war is prepared for, and this is where it finally cracks too widely to take seriously.... read more

Riddled with nonsense, but Jolie holds it together

The plot lacks any semblance of credibility, however once disbelief is suspended it is internally consistent and an entertaining romp. It has the usual ingredients of a spy thriller, chasing, fighting and particularly plot-twists. I must confess that the key turning points came as a surprise but felt natural in the context of the movie. Jolie pouts her way through it all, despite this she performs believably and carries the story.
