it is really messy and poorly told. it is way too slow and feels extremely long. it all felt really artificial, but i can't quite put my finger on why. the focus seemed to be creating striking visuals over having clear narrative purpose. this should feel more important than ever right now, but it just is going over well worn issues that have been addressed more poinently in other films. read more

this was so close to perfection to me, only to have its grip slip on the simpler things. there's almost too much i want to articulate. the performances from daniel kaluuya and jodie turner-smith were phenomenal. there's moments of such raw suspense and tension in the movie that my chest practically hurt. there's so much emotion beating behind every frame of this movie. whenever the story makes some questionable left-field choices (and, unfortunately it does this often), kaluuya and turner-smith double down on their chemistry and on-screen charisma- acting their way through the tough spots read more
