"don't ask me why i can't leave without my wife and i won't ask you why you can." i've never seen the original, but there's a solid premise here and its execution in this nearly decade-old thriller is admirable. the editing is sometimes better than it has any right to be, the sound design is fantastic, the cast is great, and there's a decent variety of scares. sure, there's the requisite amount of jump scares, but there's also a lot of skillful tension-building and masterful nerve-jangling. nevertheless, for me, the real selling point of the crazies is timothy olyphant. i love him in read
