The Old Guard

Familiar story about the price of immortality and self-discovery. Charlize and Kiki did a competent job, but characters of Joe & Nicky felt more like that of a cardboard. The entire movie proceeded with the standard narrative arc and the dramatic tensions are just as predictable. The violent actions and bullets were also a little too gratuitous as to try to "spice" the movie up. In all, I was glad that this was a Netflix movie instead of a "Hollywood" one.

Cool concept completely wasted. The idea of a team of soldiers fighting their way through history is exciting and has great potential. It goes nowhere, the immortals are not believable and Charlize Theron (one of my favourite actresses) is completely wasted in this. The dialogue is klanky and sometimes expositional using the tired trope of the apprentice being told what’s what. Action scenes are decently choreographed, but with nothing at stake for our heroes it is meaningless and dull.
