Review of The Accidental Tourist

Overall Rating
this is an extremely melancholy film that really leans into exploring the mundanity of life and relationships. i am not the target audience and cannot really relate to the life experiences of the characters in the film (i have never been married and have not had to cope with the long term effects of the death of a child), but it was still an engaging film in its own way. i could understand some parts of macons character, particularly his emotional distance from much of the world around him, so i was still able to connect enough to be drawn in. the performances are very good across the board, though i was not particularly blown away by geena daviss performance, ive seen better from here and she was outshone by kathleen turner in my opinion. william hurt is perhaps the greatest dramatic actor of the 80s. he was really drawn in complex internal dramas and is very good at conveying emotional depth without much outward expression. watched as part of scavenger hunt 46 task #10: something with an answer my list | caleb_yells's master list
