Hobgoblins

film #31 of hooptober the 6th: the producers cut it's hard to be too mad at hobgoblins. how can you spit too much vitriol at a film that knows it isn't good, and simply tries to play within those lowered expectations? now, that's not to say that it succeeds even by a low bar. but you have to give a film credit for trying to punch its weight. this 1988 horror comedy so clearly wants to be a another gremlins or ghoulies, but it doesn't even come close to either of those.
