Someone's Watching Me!

as a huge john carpenter fan i pride myself in seeing his entire body of work. i don't download movies so finding the hard to find films is near impossible sometimes. someone's watching me! is one of those films and i nearly had a heart attack when i saw it available on dvd. so ten or fifteen years after first hearing of this film i finally got to sit down and watch it. a 1978 made for television movie directed by carpenter. how would it play today, in 2013? how much would i like it, if at all? well it's over and overall it is a fairly decent film that comes with a mild recommendation. it has... read more

oof, what a year carpenter was having between this, halloween, and the script for laura mars. this is as good as anything i've seen from him, though a bit more hitchockian pastiche and less stylistically carpenter as we'd come to know him. but dangit it works, and leigh might just be the most badass woman in any of his movies. does not take shit and her quirks made her feel very alive. poor uncle leo, though. read more
