This movie fucking rules, this is how you scare the audience without using cheap jumpscares and gross monsters. The way they tell the stories and how all the movie is set in one time period, (no jumps, everything happens in 1 hour and 31 minutes) is fucking incredible and the fear that crawls through your body while listening to the witnesses stories is just indescribable. Definitely a must watch. read more

the vast of night is an ideal debut feature for andrew patterson. it takes a simple premise and imbues it with lots of personality and wonderful characters. even though it is almost entirely just people sitting around and talking, it is riveting because the characters are so well formed. it is dynamically filmed as well even though there isn't a single action scene. read more
