this documentary has aged really well, serving as a time capsule looking back at a lot of big name musicians as well as digging into a cultural movement in the '80s. as well as this works on its own, it's actually even more interesting when viewed after part i, which focused on the early '80s punk movement. in fact, comparing the two docs really involves comparing the two movements, which is so fun and so bound to piss off diehards on both sides that i can't resist doing it. director penelope spheeris opens the film with the camera moving through the line of waiting fans outside a huge show,... read more
