who knew a poignant, albeit not well-acted, movie about a girl grieving her dead mother, who eventually finds solace in a barbie-style doll who accidentally comes to life, would be turned into a cynical cash grab produced by tyra banks and her idea of female empowerment (tl;dr: i hate it, and i dont want to pen an essay about it on letterboxd) years later? sigh. also, i feel jere burns is one of those “hey, its that guy” actors, and he deserves so much better, because hes great in this. read
