The novel tells the story of Sol, a girl from the suburbs of Rio who, drawn to the promises of the American dream, invests in the attempt to emigrate to the United States where, he believes, there are opportunities for growth that he did not find in his country.

After ... More repeatedly denying a tourist visa she appeals to the coyotes, and decides to enter the country illegally through Mexico. It is on this occasion that she, accepting to take what seems to be an innocent gift to the mother of one of the organizers of the crossing, ends up being arrested by the American police: besides illegal, she was carrying drugs, because of Alex, a dangerous smuggler who deceives Sun promising to help her reach the US, so she is sent to jail for Alex's sake and ends up running away from jail. Alex is an unscrupulous man who pretends to be responsible and moral, counting on the help of the dangerous Djanira Pimenta for the conclusions of his crimes. Sol is able to escape the jail and in the middle of that, meets Ed, fianc2ee of May, who later will agree to marry her, so that he obtains the visa of permanence, by means of payment of an amount that will allow him to pay the edition of its book . Sun is going to the United States walking through the desert, going to the oceans by boat, hiding in an air-conditioned car, everything to have and give a better life for the family. May, however, is a venomous and perverse woman, who uses her intelligence and wit to separate Sol de Ed with the help of Alex and Djanira, is able to go to Brazil in search of recovering her engagement.

Tião is a responsible son of Zé Higino and Mazé, has been growing in the world of the rodeo, and walks to the greatest of all the challenges: to face Bandido, [4] the invincible bull, that no pawn had never been able to mount. After coming and going with Tiao, Sol ends up marrying Ed but separating himself from him and returning pregnant from the American to Brazil. However, she did not know that she would have to go back to the US, because her son is born here with the help of Tiao, with heart problems and it is better for the baby to treat himself there. After the child is born, she gives it to Ed, and after the baby is operated and cured, Ed comes to live in Brazil with his son and Sol, and ends up separating himself from May, when he discovers the villain's farces. Tiao marries Simone, a responsible veterinarian who was married to Geninho, her brother. Geninho is a bad-tempered and frustrated man who betrayed his wife mainly with Creusa, despite being in love with Sol, his relationship with her never worked out.

It showed the universe of the visually impaired and a gay novel that ended in controversy, when by decision of the transmitter, did not aired in the last chapter. He also showed Creuza, a totally sensuous and nympho- niac woman dressed as a believer, who deceived everyone by saying that she was a virgin and servant of God. She went to bed with almost every man in the soap opera, even going with Tiao in the middle of the straw and the bushes.

Another important nucleus is the couple Haydée, an elegant socialite, and Glauco, a feigned architect, as a respected couple in Rio society, who suffer from a troubled marriage, which is always more complicated with their daughter, Raisa rebel, who despises the wealth of his parents, Haydée's illness, which he discovers to suffer from kleptomania and Glauco, who reverted to the family situations, ends up getting involved with the nymphet Lurdinha. Another great encalque of the plot is the couple Dinho and Neuta. He is an honest and humble pawn great friend of Tiao, who is charmed by the widow Neuta, a simple and guarded woman who suffers with the widowhood of her husband and falls in love with Dinho. In the end, the two decide to take on the novel. Another great parallel plot is the entrepreneur Laerte Villa-Nova and the designer Irene Villa Nova, who live a marriage the borders.

Tião almost dies when facing the Bandido ox, but ends up coming back to reality, enriches and Simone gets pregnant of him. The villain Alex is punished at the end: He falls into a trap and ends up in prison; Dinho and Neuta take over the novel, and Junior and Zeca end up together.
